While injury is always a risk in contact sport or athletic activity, Pop Warner has a medical advisory committee of neurosurgeons, sports medicine professionals, pediatricians and researchers that steer athlete safety protocols for football and cheer & dance. In football, they’ve instituted the nation’s most advanced safety measures, including limiting contact to 25% of practice time; eliminating kickoffs and the three-point stance for our youngest divisions; banning full-speed, head-on tackling and blocking drills; and mandating that any player who suffers a suspected head injury receive medical clearance from a medical professional trained in concussion evaluation and management before returning to play.

The same rigorous guidance is devoted to cheer & dance as well. In addition, all Pop Warner coaches are required to get appropriate and relevant training and certification each season.

Yes – Helmets, Pads, Jerseys and mouth pieces are provided.

The teams are organized by age groups.

Our coaches are volunteers and many of them have played football in college.

Parents are required to participate and volunteer at least 10 hours throughout the season.

If this is something that your family needs, you will just need to reach out to our Board at the start of the season. There can be fundraising opportunities to help with costs.

There are many opportunities throughout the season for parents to get involved. At the start of the season there will be an opportunity for you to inform your Coach or Team Manager that you would like to be involved.

The league does not provide transportation. However, in seasons past, many kids will carpool to games/practices.

Families that are not able to volunteer their 10 hours can opt to pay a one-time fee of $100 for the season. However, there are opportunities to help that do not require you to be there. For example, providing the ice for the game or half-time snacks, etc.
